A 15-year-old girl from a slum in Gandhi Nagar, Bhopal, was allegedly raped multiple times by a youth she met at a local event seven months ago, police said. The case came to light when the minor, found to be three months pregnant, was taken to AIIMS Bhopal after complaining of abdominal pain. The accused, identified as Vikas, fled after learning of the FIR filed against him. According to police, the incident began in October 2024 during a community event in Gandhi Nagar, where the minor met Vikas. He lured her to a secluded spot and allegedly raped her, threatening to kill her if she spoke out. Frightened, the girl remained silent. Exploiting her fear, Vikas repeatedly visited her home when her parents, daily wage workers, were away, and assaulted her multiple times. The girl’s pregnancy was discovered two days ago when her family rushed her to AIIMS due to severe stomach pain. Doctors confirmed she was three-month pregnant, prompting her family to approach the Gandhi Nagar Police Station.

 

A case has been registered under sections of the BNS for rape and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Police officials stated that the minor, currently unwell and hospitalised, has been unable to provide detailed statements or a clear description of the accused, including his appearance or age. “The girl is still under medical care, which has limited our ability to record her full statement. We are investigating and actively searching for the accused,” said a police official. The investigation is ongoing, with efforts to trace Vikas intensifying.
