Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis comes up with new healthcare initiative; launched under CSR, medical mobile units benefit 2 lakh needy

A large part of society is not able to avail benefit of healthcare because of several reasons. Such people remained unnoticed and become victims of several diseases for want of proper treatment. Considering this, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has taken a good initiative. Under this initiative, free healthcare services have started in Nagpur through mobile medical units. Free primary healthcare will reach 2 lakh citizens under social responsibility. A relief healthcare initiative has been started for the citizens of the neglected areas of Nagpur city. For this, a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between Sanofi India Limited, Nagpur Municipal Corporation and Piramal Health Management and Research Institute (PHMRI).

Two mobile medical units (MMUs) have been operationalised. The initiative is being implemented under Sanofi's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program. About two lakh citizens above the age of 30 in Nagpur will get free primary healthcare through this project. The main objective of these units is to diagnose non-communicable diseases like diabetes, high blood pressure and oral cancer on time and refer patients for necessary treatment or further hospital care. These mobile units are operating in various areas of the city like Azad Colony, Bada Taj Bagh, Bdipeth, Binaki, Chhota Taj Bagh, Dhanteshwari Nagar, Dharampeth, Dr Ambedkar Nagar, Ekatmata Nagar, Gittikhadan, Gopal Nagar, Jaitala, Jayanti Nagar, Mahatma Phule Chowk, Nandanvan, Pachpaoli etc., and are continuously providing health services to the urban poor and deprived sections of the society.

Along with this, health awareness, lifestyle improvement and addiction counseling services have also been included in this initiative. “In line with the State Government's vision of ‘Health for All’, this initiative is in line with the State Government’s vision of providing comprehensive and accessible health services, and effective implementation of these services has been possible only with the cooperation of Nagpur Municipal Corporation. In future, more intensive cooperation will be done with the State Government to expand this initiative.
