The Gorewada-Mankapur Ring Road, once developed to ease city traffic, has now turned into a dangerous stretch of road, which has claimed lives of 59 persons and caused serious injuries to 229 persons in 29 months. The road users now live in fear as the ring road continues to witness deadly crashes and is turning into a corridor of risk. The information came to fore in an RTI filed by Advocate Sundeep Badana and it exposed the alarming number of accidents and fatalities on the dangerous stretch. In the Gittikhadan Police Station area alone, the year 2023 recorded 14 fatal accidents in which 14 people died and 6 were injured.

There were also 37 serious accidents resulting in injuries to 51 people and 20 minor accidents where 30 people were injured. In 2024, 15 fatal accidents occurred with 14 deaths and 2 injuries. Thirteen serious accidents left 21 injured, while 13 minor accidents caused injuries to 15 others. The year 2025 (up to May 20) has already seen 6 fatal accidents in which 9 were killed and 9 injured. Additionally, 3 serious accidents left 3 injured, and 5 minor accidents injured 5 people. Similarly, in the Mankapur Police Station area, 2023 saw 7 fatal accidents with 8 deaths and 1 injury, 9 serious accidents causing 12 injuries, and 13 minor accidents resulting in 15 injuries. In 2024, 8 fatal accidents led to 8 deaths, 20 serious accidents left 29 injured, and 14 minor accidents caused 18 injuries.

In 2025 (till May 20), there were already 3 fatal accidents with 3 deaths, 7 serious accidents with 8 injuries, and 4 minor accidents in which 4 people were injured. Advocate Sundeep Badana stated that there are 7–8 accident-prone spots along the Dabha-Gorewada-Mankapur ring road. After a PIL, rumble strips were installed as per High Court orders to slow down vehicles, especially heavy trucks that use the road regularly. However, within a year, most of these strips have either broken down or completely vanished. Local residents are facing the danger daily. They have been demanding proper speed breakers and the deployment of traffic police officers at key locations, but their appeals remain unaddressed.
