Police has busted a big drug business running under the guise of a medical agency in the city. Chorhata police station team has arrested three drug traders and seized large haul of banned drugs worth more than Rs 23 lakh. The seized tablets include drugs like tramadol which is also being used as intoxicants. The raid was led by SHO Ashish Mishra. The team during checking stopped an auto bearing no MP 17 R 5144 in the Chorhata area. The scope of investigation expanded after large quantity of tablets were recovered from this auto in possession of Sajjan Patel son of Tejbhan Patel 32 years resident of Pachokhar Churhat and Pushpendra Namdev son of Rajendra Prasad Namdev 35 years resident of Mahajan Tola Bichia. After which the police seized a large quantity of intoxicant tablets from a transport store located in Chorhata.
 
Therafter police raided a warehouse and transport office located in Haribhushan Nagar and seized a total of 3,34,368 intoxicant tablets, whose estimated market price is Rs 23,03,557. When the police interrogated Manoj Gupta, he informed that he had brought this consignment from Sajjan Patel resident Churhat district Sidhi, presently staying at Bajrang Nagar. In this way, police was successful in connecting the chain of suppliers and finally nabbed the main supplier of the city, Pushpendra Namdev, who was running the drug business under the guise of Guru Medical Agency operating in Amhiya area of the city. Police arrested three suppliers one by one, from whose possession intoxicant tablet worth Rs 23 lakh have been recovered. It is being told that these suppliers who were caught used to supply narcotics in the city and district as well as in the surrounding districts.
 
In this case, the police have registered a case against the accused under the Drug Prevention Act along with the NDPS Act and the matter is being investigated and other suppliers involved in the drug business are also being traced. Police informed that the arrested accused were running the business of medical drugs for a long time. Chorhata police have arrested Manoj Gupta resident Pandey Tola along with Sajjan Patel resident Churhat, who were involved in the illegal medical drug business. A case was also registered against the accused earlier in the City Kotwali police station under the NDPS Act. Along with this, Pushpendra Namdev resident Amhiya has also been arrested by the police and taken on remand. Police is searching for an accused who is working in medical agency and was supplying illegal medicines.
