The foundation stone for the city’s new ultra-modern Aqua Park will be laid on Saturday by Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav. The proposed facility marks a nostalgic yet futuristic upgrade from the city’s iconic old fish aquarium, a beloved destination for school picnics and family visits. The original structure, once filled with colourful fish gliding under soft blue lights, had left lasting impressions on
generations. Now, it is set to be reborn as one of the country’s most advanced and visually captivating Aqua Parks.
The Central Government has sanctioned Rs 25 crore for the project, while the State Government will contribute Rs 15 crore, making it a Rs 40 crore initiative aimed at merging education, entertainment, and ecological awareness.
The new Aqua Park will not only serve as a tourist attraction but also become an interactive learning and research centre for children, students, and researchers alike.
It will feature hundreds of
species of freshwater and marine fish, digital aquariums, a water tunnel, a 3D interactive zone, a Sea Life Learning Center for children, and a demonstration unit for both traditional and modern fish farming techniques. It will also house a fisheries service centre for training, an entrepreneurship development and incubation centre, a themed cafeteria displaying ornamental fish and aquatic-themed gift items, and environmental awareness programs. The park will be developed at the site of the old aquarium near Bhadbhada.
Designed as a bridge between the past and the future, it aims to sensitise the younger generation to aquatic life and the importance of nature conservation.
The return to the old fish house, now transformed with cutting-edge technology and immersive exhibits, promises not just a visual delight but also a revival of memories. Visitors who once came holding balloons will now walk in holding their children’s hands, beginning a new journey of awe and discovery.
