The approach road of a newly-built bridge in Kamptee suffered extensive damage in aftermath of heavy rains in the district during last few days. The bridge is located at Yadav Nagar (Gawlipura) in Kamptee and it is meant to connect with New Kamptee Road. Local residents said the approach road has developed huge potholes and at one place, a big crater has developed.

 

The bridge construction stands finished and it was supposed to be inaugurated later to showcase the massive development work. However, the rain exposed the chinks in the armour, as they say, and showed that much more needs to be done by the contractor to ensure that the construction is stable for use by citizens. The clip about damage to the bridge went viral on Wednesday as citizens sought immediate intervention of Public Works Department (PWD) to ensure that the approach road is properly repaired and levelled.
