Commuting from East to West becoming frustrating

Staff Reporter :

Recent construction projects have seriously compromised connectivity between West Nagpur and East Nagpur. The incessant flow of traffic through partially constructed streets has resulted in significant delays experienced by commuters across the city. The prolonged completion time for these projects are proving to be a major nuisance for local residents. As Nagpur undergoes substantial transformation, the drawn-out duration of construction is increasingly becoming a source of public frustration.

Lohapul The Cotton Market Square, a vital route connecting West and East Nagpur, is currently unpassable due to ongoing construction work. The closure of the road has forced traffic to seek alternative routes, exacerbating congestion and delays. Once again, the shutdown of the Lohapool Railway Underbridge has contributed significantly to the disruption, reinforcing the traffic bottleneck at the aforementioned junction.

Agrasen Chowk
Agrasen Chowk has seen its traffic woes intensify following the start of the Indora–Dighori flyover construction near its entrance. Access roads leading to Daga Hospital from both Ganjakhet Square and Agrasen Square have been narrowed by the placement of new flyover pillars. The construction work, particularly along the stretch from Agrasen Chowk to Daga Hospital, is causing severe and daily disruptions for commuters.

Jagnade Chowk

Jagnade Chowk appears to have been dealt an exceptionally harsh hand. The area is not only besieged by flyover construction, but also suffers from the deterioration caused by numerous potholes. The relentless traffic coupled with poor road conditions continues to be a persistent problem for local citizens, with little sign of remedial action.

Siraspeth, Great Nag Road The construction work along

Great Nag Road seems never-ending. In a bid to evade the prolonged delays, many commuters are opting to travel on the wrong side of the road – a practice that raises serious safety concerns among motorists and pedestrians alike.

Ashok Chowk Chaos reigns supreme at Ashok Square as unregulated traffic leads to daily gridlocks leaving citizens in trouble as ongoing construction of rotatory creates multiple challenges. The snail’s pace at which the construction projects are being undertaken is the main reason for the disarray of the citizens. As these improvements continue to be staggered by extended construction periods, commuters across Nagpur are left to navigate a network of bottlenecks and unsafe practices, calling for a more efficient and expedient approach to urban infrastructure redevelopment.
