A woman immolated self and her 7-year-old daughter in her father’s house situated at Nandini Township on Monday morning. Charred bodies of both of them were recovered by the police and it is suspected that after murdering her daughter, the woman immolated herself.
The deceased was in matrimonial dispute and she had separated from her husband a few years ago. Nandini Police Station In-charge Paras Thakur said that the police have recovered the empty kerosene jar from the house while no suicide note was found.
The deceased Jageshwari Sahu (35) along with her daughter Divyanshi (7) lived in her father Seeta Ram Sahu’s house at Street Number-36, Nandini Township. She was employed as a teacher in a private school while her husband Ram Krishna Sahu lives in Ram Nagar, Bhilai. The deceased was in matrimonial dispute which is reportedly pending in Family Court at Dhamtari and after separating with him she lived in her father’s house who was a Bhilai Steel Plant employee.
At about 6:30 am, Seeta Ram left home for talking morning walk and Jageshwari was preparing breakfast at that time. As he returned home, he saw smoke emitting from the house and with the help of neighbors, Seeta Ram broke open the door and discovered bodies of both the victims.
Senior police officials and FSL team also conducted inspection of the scene of crime. Both the bodies were sent to Medical College at Kachandur for post-mortem examination. Sub Inspector Thakur said that it is being investigated that whether the victim immolated self after killing the daughter first. He said that investigations were underway and the deaths have been recorded as unnatural ones.
