Madhya Pradesh Small Wage Employees Union threatens to move towards phase-wise movement if quick and effective action is not taken within 7 days

In an unfortunate incident, an employee who himself was serving at Oxygen Plant at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Medical College (NSCBMC), lost his life due to alleged lethargic workculture at Trauma Emergency Unit, on Monday. Protesting against which, the employees of MP Laghu Vetan Karamchari Sangh handed over a memorandum to the Joint Director and Superintendent, Dr Arvind Sharma.

The office-bearers of various employees unions including Rajya Karamchari Sangh, Public Health and Medical Education Employees Union, Health Employees Union, Clerical Class Employees Union, AJJAKS Employees Union and Pharmacist Association were present. President, District Health Committee, MP Laghu Vetan Karamchari Sangh, Ravindra Rai informed that Suresh Baiga, who was a hardworking employee and used to serve in the oxygen plant of the college for years, died only due to lack of medical facilities. When Suresh Baiga, who served day and night without caring for his life even in times of crisis like Covid, was brought to the hospital in a critical condition, he was first referred to Casualty and then Medicine ICU. But he could not get a place in the ICU on time and sent back to the general ward number 18, where his condition worsened.

Till the administration intervened and got him shifted to the Medicine ICU again, it was already late as he had already passed away. Mentioning it an example of medical negligence which exposed the reality of all the big claims, the delegates of different employee unions, demanded a high-level investigation of this entire case and strict action against the responsible persons. The deceased’s family should be given financial assistance, job and all other constitutional benefits immediately, the actual status of the Trauma Emergency Unit should be investigated and irregularities should be made public. Emergency medical service, reserved seats and clear priority policy should be implemented for all employees. If quick and effective action is not taken within 7 days, then Madhya Pradesh Small Wage Employees Union will move towards a phase-wise movement. Those who were present while submitting memorandum include Virendra Tiwari, Ajay Kumar Dubey, Raju Maske, Chhavikant Kori, Ashishlal and others.
