TCS and Infosys made it to the knock-out round in the ongoing six-a-side VASE Inter-IT Cup 2025 Football Tournament being played at SK Arena, Wardha Road.
TCS topped Pool A with nine points from three games while HCL finished second (4) and MySpace third (3).
From Pool B, Infosys topped the group with nine points from four matches. Persistent followed them also with nine points and AFC finished third with seven points in their kitty.
Top three teams from each group will qualify for the knock-out stage.
The team finishing first in each group will directly qualify for the semi-finals.
The second and third placed teams will face-off in eliminator, with the winner will progress to the semi-finals to be played next Sunday.
On Saturday, TCS defeated HCL and MySpace, Persistent recorded victories over AFC and Infocepts to earn valuable points in this league-cum-knock-out weekend tournament.
In the first match of the morning, TCS rode on goals from Tushar Bangale (12th) and Mohammad Junaid (24th) to beat HCL 2-1.
Clement Joseph (22nd) scored for HCL. Bangale was named man of the match.
Persistent started their day with a 3-0 drubbing of AFC with Palash Bambodkar (7th), Mirza Qadir Baig (27th) and Ajay B (29th) finding the back of the net. Bambodkar, who played well, was declared man of the match.
In another match, HCL bounced back from their first match defeat to beat MySpace 2-0. Muhammad Fayis (6th) and Ravish Menon (29th) were the goal getters.
Fayis was declared player of the match.
Persistent recorded their second win of the morning with a 3-0 win over Infocepts. Prachin Kashyap (18th) gave Persistent an early lead and then Sachin Maithil (20th) stretched it further.
Mirza Qadir Baig (22nd) bulged the net to make it an easy looking win for Persistent. Mirza Baig was awarded with player of the match award.
In the last match of the day, TCS thrashed MySpace 4-0, Ajay Chamedia (2nd) scored the opening goal and then Piyush Pandya scored a brace in space of two minutes (10th, 12th). Siddhesh Muddamwa (14th) sealed the deal with a late goal. Chamedia was declared man of the match.
