Gorakhpur police raided the house of notorious criminal Bablu Sarfaraz and arrested his brother while taking bookings of Satta and seized cash of Rs 30,000, two walkie-talkies, two mobile handsets and records of Satta bookings. The arrested have been identified as Ajju alias Ajay Qureshi (32), resident of Kachhi Mohalla, Azad Chowk, Rampur, Pradeep Kori (34), resident of Baldi Kori ki Dafaai, near Community Hall, Ghamapur and Magan Kori (57), resident of Jagdamba Colony, Maharajpur, Adhartal. Superintendent of Police Jabalpur, Sampat Upadhyay (IPS), received information that notorious criminal Bablu Sarfaraz and his brother Ajju alias Ajay Qureshi were running a large-scale illegal betting operation from near their residence in Kachhi Mohalla, Azad Chowk in Gorakhpur. Acting promptly, SP Upadhyay directed Additional SP City Anand Kaladgi (IPS) to verify the input. Upon confirmation of the information, a well-coordinated raid was ordered.
 
Under the guidance of CSP Gorakhpur MD Nagotiya, a joint team led by SHO Gorakhpur Nitin Kamal and In-charge Outpost Rampur SI Prabhakar Singh, along with personnel from the police station and CSP office, raided the location of Bablu Qureshi’s house. During the raid, Ajju Qureshi and two others were caught red-handed writing betting slips. They attempted to flee but were promptly surrounded and apprehended. During interrogation, Ajju Qureshi admitted to running the betting operation along with his brother Bablu Sarfaraz.
 
The other two accused revealed they worked for Bablu and Ajju, receiving Rs 500 per day. The walkie-talkies and betting slips were provided by the Qureshi brothers. The police recovered Rs 30,000 in cash, 2 walkie-talkies, 2 mobile phones and 3 betting slips from the spot. Gorakhpur police registered a case under Section 4(a) of the Gambling Act and Sections 49 and 112 of the BNS. It may be noted that Ajju alias Ajay Qureshi has 11 prior cases registered against him, including gambling, illegal liquor trade and assault. The raid was conducted by the joint efforts of CSP Gorakhpur MD Nagotiya, SHO Gorakhpur Nitin Kamal, Outpost In-charge SI Prabhakar Singh, SI Chandrabhan Singh, Head Constable Neeraj Sen, Constables Yogendra, Dharmendra, Tarun, Arif, Anurag, Ramkrishna, Umashankar and from CSP Office, Head Constables Vijay Kumar Dubey, Atul Garg, Constable Navneet and Home Guard Lalit Sonkar.
