The ‘Jigyasa’ unit of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) on Monday inaugurated a three-day zonal conference and State Arogya Mela at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Convention Centre to promote Indian medical systems, particularly Ayurveda, and raise health awareness among the youth. The programme commenced with the lighting of traditional lamp and singing of Vande Mataram.
 
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Madhya Pradesh Minister of Public Works Department, Rakesh Singh, Chairman, National Medical Commission, Dr B L Mehra, Vice-Chancellor, Maharshi Sushruta Ayurveda University, Dr Ashok Khandelwal, Principal, College of Ayurveda, Dr L L Ahirwar, National Convenor, Jigyasa, Dr Adarsh Rawat, State Secretary, ABVP, Makhan Sharma, and National Co-Convenor, Jigyasa, Shambhavi Shukla. In his inaugural address, PWD Minister, Rakesh Singh described Ayurveda as India’s ‘invaluable heritage’ and an integral part of Indian culture. He praised ABVP’s initiative, calling it a ‘Mahakumbh of Ayurveda’ where education, service, and research converge. He stated that the conference would provide a new direction to the youth and increase awareness of Indian medical systems in society.
 
Dr B L Mehra highlighted ‘Jigyasa’ as a special initiative by ABVP that promotes research, dialogue and social responsibility in the fields of medicine, health, and education. State Secretary Makhan Sharma said that Ayurveda is a crucial step towards India becoming a ‘Vishwa Guru’ (world leader) once again. He added that such events inspire youth to pursue their professional lives with a social perspective. Dr Adarsh Rawat mentioned that students and experts from medical, AYUSH, and other health sciences are participating in the three-day event. The State Arogya Mela will also offer free health consultations, disease diagnosis, yoga and naturopathy camps, and lectures by subject experts. The conference will feature guidance from renowned scholars, including Padma Shri Vaidya Balendu Prakash, Nadi Vaidya Tapan Kumar, Vaidya Gopakumar, Vaidya Rajesh Thakkar, Vaidya Ramakrishna, and Vaidya Maratha Bhasker Rao. The event was witnessed by over 1200 students, faculty members, and ABVP workers, marking a proud moment for the city. The upcoming sessions of the conference will include workshops, seminars and research paper presentations on various topics.
