Divisional Commissioner Sanjeev Singh reviewing construction progress of Surbhi Gaushala.
Staff Reporter :
A modern gaushala with special medical facilities is coming up at Barkhedi Abdullah, where sick cows will soon have access to an ICU and a general ward. The facility, named Surbhi Gaushala, is designed to accommodate 2,000 cows at a time, with four sheds being built—each capable of housing 500 cows. Out of these, two sheds will be reserved exclusively for sick animals. In addition, a separate fodder shed and a calf shed are also part of the project. On Wednesday, Divisional Commissioner Sanjeev Singh chaired a review meeting to assess the progress of the gaushala’s construction.
He directed officials to ensure that the work is carried out with quality and completed within the stipulated timeframe. Singh emphasized that interdepartmental coordination should remain smooth so that no delay occurs in the project.
Officials informed that in the first phase, the gaushala is being constructed at a cost of Rs 11.35 crore and is scheduled to be completed by December.
Each shed will have adjoining open space for the cows, while an ICU and general ward will provide much-needed healthcare for sick cattle.
Other facilities include a dedicated chaff shed, a calf shed, a one-lakh-liter overhead
water tank, and additional buildings for office and residential use. Divisional Commissioner Singh reminded officers that Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav had performed the bhoomi pujan of the project, underlining its importance as one of the state government’s priority works. He also instructed that arrangements for fodder and management of operations be finalized in advance. The review meeting was attended by the Joint Commissioner (Development) and senior
officials of various concerned departments.
