Govindrao Wanjari College of Engineering and Technology Nagpur is committed to ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all students. Ragging, a menace in many educational institutions, is strictly prohibited at Govindrao Wanjari College of Engineering and Technology Nagpur.
As per UGC directives, the week from August 12 to 18, was dedicated to taking anti-ragging measures and spreading awareness among students GWCET, Nagpur.
The campaign activities were conducted throughout this week. Awareness sessions on anti-ragging were organised for all students of engineering to encourage them to contribute to a positive campus atmosphere. Students from each department made posters and displayed them on the all notice board to visually convey the message against ragging.
Apart from that anti ragging posters were displayed in various places on campus. Several competitions among students and faculty members were conducted. Competitions such as poster making competition, essay writing, logo designing, and quiz, slogan-making competitions and play / drama were conducted. Documentaries and videos from UGC were displayed with students to encourage them to express their thoughts on the importance of a ragging-free campus.
During the inauguration ceremony on August 12, Principal Dr Salim Chavan sharing his personal insight and declared that ragging is a violation of human rights, urging students to uphold dignity and compassion in all interactions. Dr Salim A Chavan, Principal of the college, inaugurated the function.
In his presidential address, he emphasized the importance of eradicating ragging from educational institutions and of retaining our college as a ragging free campus. The event was coordinated by Prof. Mohan D Karambe Anti Ragging Cell Incharge and all events organised under this banner by Prof. Prashant Gumgaokar and Prof. Ravindra Wakodikar while event anchored by Prof. Shilpa Chindamwar.
During the valedictory ceremony on dated August 18, all participated student in various events which are organised under this anti ragging week felicitated by prize and certificates by Dr Smita A Wanjri, Treasurer
