Under the influence of multiple active weather systems, widespread rainfall returned to Madhya Pradesh. Moderate to heavy showers were recorded in Jabalpur and several other districts, on Friday. Meanwhile, the Weather Department has issued a heavy rainfall alert for more than a dozen districts. Spokesman of the department said the rainy spell is likely to continue for the next four to five days. He said simultaneous activeness of several weather systems has once again trigged rainfall activity in the state, including Jabalpur.

Accordingly, the city has been experiencing continuous rainfall since afternoon and the conditions will persist for several days. Providing details of active weather systems, the spokesman said a monsoon trough currently extends from Jaisalmer, Kota, Datia, Sidhi, Ranchi, Bankura and Digha towards the east-central Bay of Bengal. An offshore trough is also active along the Gujarat-Maharashtra coast at the same level. Likewise, a cyclonic circulation is present over northwest Madhya Pradesh and adjoining areas at about 7.6 km above mean sea level.

Another circulation has been identified over north Odisha and adjoining Gangetic West Bengal. A similar system is active over Kutch and adjoining regions. Meanwhile, a shear zone is positioned across parts of the Indian region, further enhancing rainfall activity.
