The Madhya Pradesh Education Department has issued strict instructions to implement the e-attendance system with the aim of enhancing transparency and discipline in schools.

The Directorate of Public Instruction has ordered all District Education Officers to ensure that all teachers and institutional heads regularly mark their e-attendance. The department has also made it clear that action will be taken against any officials or teachers who fail to comply with the order. The Directorate of Public Instruction has noted that many institutional heads are not marking their own e-attendance, which has led to teachers also not following the system.

The department has instructed all District Education Officers to monitor the e-attendance of both institutional heads and teachers and to submit regular reports. The e-attendance system was made mandatory in state schools from July 1. Under this system, teachers must mark their attendance by taking a selfie through a mobile app upon arrival and departure from school. Leave applications will also now be accepted only online. Strict Rules: Teachers must mark their attendance within one hour of the school opening and within half an hour after closing time.

Failure to mark attendance on time will result in the absence being deducted as a casual leave. Benefits of e-Attendance: Ensures transparency and a digital record of attendance. Increases discipline in schools and curbs irregularities. Brings a digital transformation to the working of the education department. The department believes this step will not only increase transparency but also have a positive impact on students’ education. While some teachers in rural areas have complained about network and technical issues, the department has clarified that it is everyone’s responsibility to fully implement this syste m and that negligence will not be tolerated.
