The exchange of fire continued for 8 hours on Gadchiroli-Narayanpur border  
 
Total 4 Naxalites, including 3 women, were killed in a fierce encounter that took place between the security forces and the Maoists on Wednesday morning. The incident took place near the border of Gadchiroli and Narayanpur district of Chhattisgarh. Police had received a credible information on August 25 that Gatta Dalam, Company No 10 and other Maoist formations of Gadchiroli Division were present in the Koparshi forest area on the Gadchiroli-Narayanpur (Chhattisgarh) border. Based on information, 19 C-60 commando force units and 2 units of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Quick Action Team (QAT) were dispatched to the said forest area under the leadership of Additional Superintendent of Police (Ops) M Ramesh.
 
Braving torrential rains in the district and Bhamragad area over the last two days, the security forces teams reached the forest area this morning. When they were conducting a search operation, Maoists opened indiscriminate firing on the them leading to effective retaliation by the security forces. The firing continued for about 8 hours. When the area was searched after the firing, a total of 4 Maoists bodies (one male and threee female) were recovered along with four weapons including one SLR rifle, two INSAS rifles and one 303 rifles. This is the second such encounter in Koparshi forest area in the span of 10 months. Earlier, an encounter had taken place between Maoists and police in Koparshi forest on October 21, 2024. In that encounter, two male and three female Maoists were killed. In the same forest. Further search operation is continuing in the area for the remaining Maoists.
