A 15-year-old girl was brutally murdered by a 16-year-old boy near St Anthony School in Ajni on Friday afternoon. The murder has shocked the area, especially as both the victim and the accused are teenagers. The deceased girl, a resident of Ajni Police Station area, was attacked in broad daylight when she was returning home from school with her two friends. The accused, a minor boy from Rambagh, has been detained by the police. According to police, the girl and the boy had been friends for the past two years.

 

However, for the last one month, the boy suspected that the girl was avoiding him. Police also suspect that there had been quarrels between the two earlier. The incident occurred at around 2 pm. The girl and her friends were walking home when the boy arrived on a scooter. He parked the scooter near the Manohar Colony board and blocked her way. Before she could react, the boy suddenly attacked her with a sharp weapon. The accused first stabbed her in the neck. As the girl collapsed on the road, he continued to stab her mercilessly and left her in a pool of blood. Shocked and terrified, her friends screamed for help and ran towards a nearby church.

 

They informed some local youths, who rushed to the spot. But by then, the boy had fled. The injured girl was immediately taken to the hospital, but doctors declared her dead. Ajni Police, led by Senior Police Inspector Nitinchandra Rajkumar, reached the spot. The crime scene was inspected and a murder case was registered. The minor accused was soon detained by the police. Officials said that the motive behind the killing is still not clear. The police will question the minor further to find out what led him to commit the murder.
