Beltarodi Police have detained a notorious criminal with 11 offences registered against him under the Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities (MPDA) Act.
The accused, Rohit alias Pandit Santosh Tiwari (31), a resident of Plot No 11, Rakesh Layout, near Sarfi Ashram, has been involved in creating terror in the Beltarodi area. He has 11 offences registered against him including theft, robbery, attempt to commit robbery, possession of illegal weapons, gambling, abuse and assault. Preventive action was also taken three times in the past, but his violent behaviour continued.
Considering the seriousness of the crimes, a proposal under Section 3 of the MPDA Act was prepared against him. The Commissioner of Police Dr Ravinder Kumar Singal approved the proposal and Tiwari was lodged in the Nagpur Central Jail on Friday.
Under the guidance CP Dr Singal, the action was made by DCP Zone 4 Rashmita Rao, Sr Police Inspector Mukund Kawade, APIs Ram Kandhure, Shrikant Gorde, Priyanka Ramteke and staff including Prashant Gajbhiye, Ankush Chaudhary, Shyam Sapkal, Suhas Shingane, Bhajandas Gharat, and Hemant Uike.
