In the shocking murder of a teenage girl in Ajni, police investigations have revealed that the 17-year-old accused had purchased the knife used in the crime from an on-line shopping site just four days before the incident.
Police said, the minor hid his mobile phone after the murder and has not disclosed where he kept it. The phone is believed to hold important clues about his planning and state of mind before the attack.
According to Ajni Police, the accused works as a caretaker. His father is a notorious criminal with nearly 40 offences on record, including cases of chain-snatching, murder and attempt to murder. The boy lives with his mother, who is also a caretaker, along with his brother and sister in Rambagh.
The victim’s mother is also a caretaker nurse.
The girl and the accused had been friends for the last two years. But for the past one month, the boy suspected that she was avoiding him. Police believe this led to frequent quarrels between them.
Investigators said, the boy decided to eliminate her. He ordered the knife on-line. On getting the knife, he carried it with him and used it in the brutal attack. After stabbing the girl, he left the knife at the spot and fled on a scooter.
Police found that he also hid the blood-stained clothes worn during the murder.
The crime took place on Friday afternoon near St Anthony School in Ajni. The boy blocked the girl’s path and attacked her with the knife. She was rushed to a hospital but was declared dead.
The police have produced the minor in the Juvenile Court, which granted them one day of questioning. The investigation is still in progress.
Fled to relatives’ place after murder
After throwing the knife at the scene, the minor fled on a scooter. He went to a relative’s house in Gangabai Ghat area. There, he took clothes from the relative, allegedly burned his blood-stained clothes and mobile phone and wore fresh
clothes. He then hid the scooter at another relative’s house on Nara Road.
Meanwhile, the Crime Branch arrested the minor based on CCTV footage.
Mortuary room locks broken
Relatives of a deceased girl allegedly broke locks of the mortuary room at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H) around 3 am on Saturday.
According to Ajni Police, three relatives of the murdered girl had consumed alcohol outside the mortuary room late Friday night and then broke the locks of two doors. The medical administration clarified that the body was safe inside the freezer.
