Govt targets 10 lakh installations by next year

In a significant push towards sustainable agriculture, Madhya Pradesh Government has announced an ambitious plan to install 10 lakh solar pumps across the State by next year under Kusum Yojana. Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav has directed the Renewable Energy Department and all related agencies to work in close coordination to ensure timely and effective implementation. Presiding over a review meeting at Samatva Bhavan, Dr Yadav stressed upon the need to accelerate installation campaign already underway this year.

The move aims to reduce farmers’ dependence on conventional electricity and diesel, cutting down operational costs and promoting clean energy usage in agriculture. “Solar pump installation will not only reduce electricity expenses for farmers but also encourage widespread adoption of renewable energy in rural areas,” said CM Yadav. He added that awareness campaigns will be launched to ensure farmers understand the benefits and process of accessing the scheme. The initiative is also expected to enable farmers to sell surplus solar energy in the future, turning producers into potential energy entrepreneurs. State Minister for Renewable Energy Rakesh Shukla, Chief Secretary Anurag Jain, and other senior officials were present during the meeting.
