Once again a family bearing the immense pain of untimely demise of their loving son, came forward to save three people’s lives through organ donation. This was indeed not an easy decision but they opted to transform their personal loss into an act of social cause. The deceased, Satyendra Yadav (31), son of Pushpa and Rohini Yadav, resident of village Bichhua under Ghansour tehsil, Seoni, was declared brain-dead after a road accident on Monday evening near Supatal graveyard. Married to Meenakshi just three months back, Satyendra used to stay alone in Jabalpur and delivered cylinders to earn his livelihood. He was returning from work when his motorbike was hit by another bike coming from the opposite direction.

Initially, he was taken to a near-by private hospital where after necessary tests, the doctors declared that 50-60 percent of the patient’s brain had become inactive. Soon after, the relatives shifted him to Super Speciality Hospital where despite making all efforts to save his life, the doctors declared him brain-dead on Wednesday evening. Dean, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Medical College Dr Navneet Saxena told that after the deceased became brain-dead, doctors convinced the family for organ donation. After receiving family’s consent, the administration of Super Speciality Hospital, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Medical College Hospital immediately updated higher authorities concerned with organ donation at the State and National-level and initiated necessary proceedings for organ retrieval. Through a green corridor created between NSCBMCH and Dumna Airport, Satyendra’s liver and heart were sent to Bhopal and Ahmedabad, respectively by air.

Whereas, his kidney was transplanted to a patient in the evening at Super Speciality only. After offering rich tributes at Super Speciality Hospital by all the senior officials, Satyendra’s body was sent to his native village for last rites. Dean Dr Navneet Saxena, Director of Super Speciality Hospital Dr Avadhesh Pratap Singh Kushwaha, Superintendent, NSCBMCH, Dr Arvind Sharma, Superintendent, Super Speciality, Dr Jitendra Gupta, Dr Phanindra Solanki, IMA President, Dr Richa Sharma, heads of different departments and other senior doctors were present. However, relatives alleged that had Satyendra received timely medical intervention after accident, he would have been alive. As, when not feeling well after the accident, Satyendra laid down at a bench at bus-stop located near Supatal graveyard for hours, but no one bothered to inquire about his condition. They alleged that when a passer-by noticed the blood oozing out from his nose and ear, he immediately contacted Satyendra’s acquaintances through his mobile phone.
