Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State President Kiran Singh Deo on Sunday said that Salwa Judum was a significant campaign initiated during the tenure of former Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh to combat Naxalism in Chhattisgarh. He alleged that the movement was weakened due to a judicial decision by Sudarshan Reddy, the then judge and now the Vice-Presidential candidate of the INDIA alliance. Deo said that this decision has left residents of remote forest areas in Bastar concerned over Reddy’s candidature.
Speaking to journalists during the ongoing state-level organisational workshop at the party’s Kushabhau Thackeray Complex office, Deo highlighted the importance of the event, where senior leaders including National General Secretary Arun Singh, National Co-Organization General Secretary Shiv Prakash, State In-charge Nitin Nabin, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Regional Organization General Secretary Ajay Jamwal, and State Organization General Secretary Pawan Sai provided guidance to party functionaries. Deo said that BJP’s organizational units at the mandal, district, and state levels have been restructured.
“In the coming days, BJP will systematically take its programmes to the last unit through workers, and with this purpose, this workshop has been organized. After this, similar workshops will also be conducted at the district level, where speakers will guide workers on various subjects,” he explained. He further added that BJP regularly conducts organizational programmes throughout the year, and workers have always played an active role in implementing the party’s initiatives at the grassroots level.
