NAGPUR will witness a landmark moment
in its infrastructure development this on
September 12, when the long-awaited fourlane flyover from Bole Petrol Pump Square
to University Campus Square on National
Highway-53 is formally dedicated to the
nation. The 2.85-kilometre structure, built
at a cost of Rs 191 crore, will be inaugurated at 5.30 pm at Bole Petrol Pump Square
by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari. The occasion will also be attended by Chief Minister
Devendra Fadnavis, alongside state ministers, MLAs and MLCs.
Part of the National Master Plan for MultiConnectivity under the PM Gati Shakti initiative, the flyover is a component of the
broader Amravati RoadTraffic Improvement
Project (ARTIP), intended to relieve congestion and vastly improve traffic flow in
this busy city corridor.
Over the past few months, completion of
structural works has been followed by finishing touches: installation of road markings, signage, rumble strips, and street lighting. Delays caused by heavy monsoon rains
and pending administrative permits pushed
back earlier deadlines. Nevertheless, officials now affirm that the project is ready.
Residents have suffered throughout the
construction period. Potholes, narrow lanes,
earthworks, and dust on Amravati Road,
especially between Bole Petrol Pump, Law
College Square, and University Campus
Square, have made travel difficult. Footpaths
and adjacent roads, meanwhile, remained
neglected under the shadow of the flyover
works.
On inauguration, the flyover, also known
as the Gyanyogi Dr Shrikant Jichkar Flyover promises to reduce travel times, ease congestion, and provide much-needed relief to thousands of commuters
traversing the NH-53 corridor daily. With dedication ceremonies lined up, Nagpur edges closer to smoother and more modern connectivity for its citizens.
