VIDARBHA conceded first innings lead to Maharashtra in spite of captain Atharva Taide’s fine century (137) and a fighting 90 from Yash Kadam on Day 3 of their four-day match in the Thimmappiah Memorial Trophy in Bengaluru on Wednesday.
In reply to Maharashtra’s tally of 404, Vidarbha first innings folded for 380, thereby conceding a lead of 24 runs.
Earlier, Taide and Kadam resumed their partnership and the former reached his hundred and continued to bat with assurance. Kadam reached 90 off 176 balls with seven boundaries and two sixes before falling 10 short of his hundred.
The duo added 158 runs for the fourth wicket to put Vidarbha in a strong position. However, once Taide was out at the score of 319, the lower order crumbled. Only Shivam Deshmukh (35) offered some resistance and was the last man to be dismissed.
Vidarbha hit back with the ball and had reduced Maharashtra to 40-4 in their second innings when the day’s play ended. Parth Rekhade claimed two wickets.
