The body of a man missing for two days was recovered from Upper Lake on Friday afternoon. The deceased has been identified as Chunnu Khan, a 30-year-old carpenter and resident of Karond.
Following the recovery, family members alleged that his death was a homicide, directly accusing two relatives, prompting the police to register a case and launch an investigation. Chunnu’s elder brother, Farid, informed the police that Chunnu left home around 1 pm on Wednesday, stating he was going to meet his relatives, Mujahid and Shoaib, near Iqbal Maidan. When Chunnu’s phone remained switched off late into the night and he did not return, his wife, Rehana, notified Farid. Farid immediately went to Iqbal Maidan but only found Shoaib.
According to Farid, Shoaib refused to provide any information regarding Chunnu’s whereabouts and subsequently left the area. Rehana later filed a missing person’s report at the Talaiya Police Station. The body was recovered from the Big Lake near VIP Road on Friday afternoon.
Family members confirmed the identity, and the body was sent for post-mortem examination. Farid levelled serious allegations against Mujahid and Shoaib, claiming they frequently extorted money from Chunnu and physically assaulted him. He alleges that the two systematically murdered Chunnu and then dumped his body Police have initially registered a Marg (inquest) and begun an investigation. Authorities stated they are thoroughly scrutinising the serious
accusations made by the family members against the two relatives.
