Prabhal shines but rain ruins Bapuna matches
Sports Reporter :
Rain ruined the two first-round matches in the 29th edition of the Bapuna Cup U-23 2-day tournament.
In spite of a full day’s play at the VCA’s Civil Lines Stadium, the match between Bapuna XI and Maharashtra CA ended in a tame draw without the first innings of both sides being completed.
Bapuna XI resumed on 164-4 and carried on till they reached 330-8 before declaring the innings. Prabhal Choukhande, unbeaten on 61 overnight, took his score to 82 before falling. Vishesh Tiwari scored 39 while Prem Ghode remained unbeaten on 59. In reply, Maharashtra could only muster 106-3 in the 31 overs possible.
Aniruddha made an unbeaten 59, while Salman Raza captured two wickets for the home team.
The other match between Dinshaw XI and Kerala CA at the DY Patil School ground was abandoned without a ball being bowled because of soggy underfoot conditions.
