Thou art that Shakti, 
Beloved of Lord Shiva, 
The divine power of unity,
Of masculine-feminine supreme energies.
You reside together and complete each other
Like the scent in the flower. 
She winds the air with a verve, 
Holding rhythm of the sacred curve.
He silently stands at the centre, 
Upholding her trust forever.
She is resplendent colour of day’s sun, 
so bright, 
He, calm, composed and stable as dark night. 
She is the fire to kill darkness 
He is the blazing spark holding stillness. 
Together they turn their roles in a circle
And the world dances on their beats in cycle. 
Hand in hand, He stands beside Her
Knowing He is incomplete without Her. 
Oh Durga, Oh Kali! 
Salutations to you in abundance 
May we awake in your consciousness
To seek your blessings in our lives 
for righteousness. 
Oh Mother, fierce and kind, 
Bestow us thy power to slay demons within, 
Oh Shiva’s Shakti, 
Grant us thy grace to restore sanctity.
