Bhopal is set to witness four enchanting evenings of classical music, dance, and literary celebration as ‘Badal Raag Samaroh’ begins at Bharat Bhavan from September 10 to 13. Organised by Bharat Bhavan’s music wing Anhad, the festival will bring together a confluence of vocal, instrumental, and dance performances, offering art lovers a rich taste of Indian classical traditions.
Chief Administrative Officer of Bharat Bhavan, Prem Shankar Shukla, said the four-day event is a celebration of the diversity of Indian classical music and dance.
“This is a journey into the world of rhythm, melody, and expression that will stir artistic sensibilities,” he added. The festival will open on September 10 with a vocal duet by noted classical singers Ritesh and Rajnish Mishra, followed by a soulful performance by legendary vocalist Begum Parveen Sultana, whose melodious voice is expected to mesmerise the audience. All performances begin at 7 pm and entry is free for the public. September 11 will take listeners into the world of string instruments. Rishabh Malik will present a violin recital, followed by a captivating santoor performance by renowned maestro Pt Rahul Sharma. On September 12, stage will come alive with the vibrancy of Indian classical dance. Young artist Idika will present a traditional Bharatanatyam recital, followed by an elegant Kathak performance by Yasmeen Singh and her troupe. The final evening, September 13, will feature a blend of literature and music. A discussion will be held on noted folk singer Malini Awasthi’s book ‘Chandan Kivaar’, followed by her soulful musical presentation, marking a graceful conclusion to the festival.
