The Ministry of Coal has awarded the 5-Star Rating Achievers Award to four mines of Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) for the year 2023-24. The awardee mines are Gokul Open Cast Mine and Makardhokda Open Cast Mine of Umrer Area, Chhattarpur-1 Underground Mine of Pathakhera Area, and Saoner-1 Underground Mine of Nagpur Area of WCL. The award was presented by Union Minister of Coal, Mines, and Parliamentary Affairs G Kishan Reddy, in the presence of Minister of State for Coal Satish Chandra Dubey, Secretary, Ministry of Coal, Vikram Dev Dutt, Additional Secretary, Rupinder Brar, and CMD, WCL, J P Dwivedi. The award ceremony was held in Mumbai, where Director (Technical/Operations) Anand Prasad, General Manager (Safety), Dinesh Bisen, Regional General Manager, Umrer Area, Mohammad Sabir, Regional General Manager, Pathakhera Area L K Mahapatra, and Regional General Manager, Nagpur Area J V S P Rao received the award on behalf of WCL.
