SHANTANU Chikhale snared all ten wickets in an innings for Navniketan Club against VMV in the ongoing Guzder two-day league tournament. Chikhale, probably became first player in the league’s history to take 10 wickets in a single innings efficiently, dismissing the entire opposition team on his own. Batting first, Navniketan could muster 185 runs in their first innings. Barring Vedant Dighade, who hit 83 runs, none other batter showed courage in the middle. Varun Palandurkar (30) and Manan Agrawal (31) took their score past 150-run mark.

 

VMV then mustered 252 runs taking an important first innings lead but the day belonged to Chikhale who ran through VMV innings taking all 10 wickets. His impressive figures read 28.3-2-109-10! In their second innings Navniketan declared at 246 for seven. Hemant Rathod then hit 87 as VMV put up 171 for three when the stumps were drawn for the match to win the match on first innings lead. Leg-spinner Chikhale has been consistent and is constantly knocking Vidarbha doors with his exceptional performance with the ball.
