In a bid to ensure seamless operations and maintain the grandeur of the newly-constructed Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) headquarters, the administration has unveiled a comprehensive facility management plan. Following a detailed inspection of the premises, Municipal Commissioner Sanskriti Jain announced that a dedicated Nodal Officer would be appointed to oversee the building’s internal systems. This move aims to separate the complex’s maintenance, including power supply, water management, sanitation, and landscape upkeep, from routine administrative duties. To modernise the technical backbone of the municipal body, the Commissioner has laid heavy emphasis on robust IT infrastructure.

The technical team has been directed to strengthen high-speed data networks and electrical systems to meet future requirements. Furthermore, departmental heads have been instructed to design workstations based on staff strength and the nature of their work. The objective is to facilitate faster file movement and ensure corporate-level efficiency and transparency in government functioning. Keeping public accessibility in mind, the layout of the building has been strategically planned.

The administration has decided to restrict public-intensive departments to the ground and first floors. A state-of-the-art Public Service Center (Lok Seva Kendra) is being established on the ground floor to ensure that senior citizens and differently-abled individuals do not have to navigate upper floors for inquiries or applications. The first floor will house departments related to tax assessment,

No-Objection Certificates (NOCs), and other essential public services, ensuring a ‘single-window’ experience for visitors. During the inspection, the administrative team pushed for the swift completion of the departmental shifting process. To promote sustainability, the building is expected to adopt sensor-based lighting systems for energy conservation and advanced rainwater harvesting units. Commissioner Jain clarified that departmental heads would be held directly accountable for the cleanliness and organisation of their respective office set-ups.
