Cold wave conditions were reported in isolated pockets of the Durg division, as winter continued to affect several parts of Chhattisgarh on Saturday. According to the Meteorological Centre, Raipur, the weather remained dry across State, and no rainfall was recorded during the past 24 hours .
Durg recorded a minimum temperature of 8.2 degrees Celsius, which was significantly below normal, reflecting the impact of cold conditions in the region.
Across State, Ambikapur was the coldest place, where the minimum temperature dropped to 4.6 degrees Celsius. This made night and early morning hours especially cold in northern districts. The highest maximum temperature in the state was recorded in Bilaspur at 26.6 degrees Celsius.
In Raipur, the maximum temperature stood at 25.8 degrees Celsius, which was about 1.7 degrees below normal. The minimum temperature was recorded at 11.9 degrees Celsius, also slightly below normal. Morning humidity was 59 percent and dropped to 42 percent by evening.
The city experienced about 60 percent cloud cover, while winds remained light throughout the day.
Other districts such as Jagdalpur, Pendra Road, and Rajnandgaon also reported cool night temperatures, indicating that winter conditions are now clearly visible across most parts of the state.
The weather department has forecast that dry weather will continue over Chhattisgarh in the coming days. No official warning has been issued for January 11, and no significant change is expected over the next two days. For Raipur city, hazy conditions are likely on January 11, especially during the morning.
The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to remain around 27 degrees Celsius and 12 degrees Celsius respectively. Meteorologists have also indicated that minimum temperatures across the state may rise slightly by 1 to 3 degrees Celsius over the next three days, after which a fall is again possible.
