Madhya Pradesh High Court has dismissed a petition alleging irregularities in the evaluation of the NEET exam. During the hearing, the court told the petitioner, a student, that instead of complaining, she should be happy that she had scored higher than she expected. Gatha Vasnik, a resident of Navdoor Sanchar Colony in Bhopal (originally from Nagpur), had filed a petition in the High Court challenging the results of the
NEET exam conducted by the National Testing to the student, she should have scored 342 marks based on her score, but the result showed 352 marks. The petition alleged a major error in the evaluation method, resulting in her receiving 10 extra marks.
The student demanded that this error be corrected and the entire merit list be reissued. The division bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court comprising
Chief Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva and Justice Vinay Saraf heard the case. The bench orally remarked that a candidate should be happy when they have achieved higher marks than they expected.
During the hearing, when the court asked whether the student had taken admission based on her results, the answer was “no.” The court expressed concern that such a petition could affect the student’s future.
