EMPLOYMENT on large scale is
being given under Mahatma
Gandhi National Rural
Employment Guarantee Scheme
(MGNREGS) in the Durg district.
Presently, 49,126 labourers
from villages are engaged in various works being carried out in
295 out of 300 Gram Panchayats
of the district. Total 1,642 muster
rolls have been issued for
these works. Maximum 25,298
labourers have received employment under Dhamdha Janpad
Panchayat where 586 muster rolls
have been issued.
Out of 119
Gram Panchayats, works are in
progress in 115 Gram Panchayats.
Dhamdha is followed by
Janpad Panchayat Patan where
14,997 labourers are working in
108 Gram Panchayats and 564
muster rolls have been issued.
In 71 Gram Panchayats of
Janpad Panchayat Durg, 8,831
labourers have received employment for which 709 muster rolls
have been issued.
Notably,
employment oriented construction works like Livelihood Dabri,
pond deepening, drain, sapling
plantation, Anganbadi building,
Amrit Sarovar, soak pit, cheque
dam etc are being carried out
under the scheme. MGNREGS
has proved to be a source of livelihood for rural labourers. After
completion of Kharif cropping
season works, demand related to
soil related works are being made
so that employment can be given to maximum number of
labourers under the scheme.
