Although Municipal Corporation elections often don’t hog the same spotlight as General or Assembly polls, their stakes are incredibly high for everyday urban life. As a Gen Z voter, we are often criticised for ignoring important issues but these local elections directly impact the quality of life in our cities. We do not expect anything extravagant, just the fulfillment of basic needs and an improvement in living standards. Imagine living in a city that hosts the annual winter session of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, yet still struggles to maintain a better AQI. Smooth, well-maintained roads where drivers don't have to constantly worry about vehicle damage from potholes and poor infrastructure.
Reliable electricity supply, without frequent disruptions or shortages. Better parks and gardens clean, safe, and well-equipped spaces for people to relax and hang out. Stronger support for the underprivileged especially those living
on the streets or in vulnerable conditions, with better facilities, shelter. Encouragement for youth entrepreneurship as more young people venture into business, we need practical support like subsidies or incentives to help them succeed and contribute to the local economy. (As told to Sagar Mohod)
