Want transparent governance, communication with masses through digital platforms

As a young citizen growing up in Nagpur, I believe I want our corporators to focus less on slogans and more on everyday problems that directly affect our quality of life. Public gardens, which should be clean and welcoming spaces for families and young people, are poorly maintained and slowly turning into neglected patches of land. Footpaths are meant for pedestrians, but today they are occupied by illegal vendors, forcing people to walk on busy roads. Added to the problem is construction material being dumped on streets without any planning, causing traffic-jams, dust pollution, and accidents.
Public works like roads and flyovers take years to complete, and there is hardly any accountability for delays. Basic amenities such as clean public toilets and regular garbage collection are still missing in many areas. But I do not only want complaints to be heard—I want solutions. I expect transparent governance, clear timelines for projects, and regular communication with citizens through digital platforms. I want greener neighborhoods, safer streets, better public transport, and spaces for sports, culture, and community activities. Most importantly, I want corporators who are accessible, honest, and serious about solving problems, not just during elections, but every single day. For us, development means a city that is clean, safe, fair, and future-ready. (As told to Vikas Vaidya)
