DEPUTY Chief Minister Jagdish Devda on Monday inspected the 120 MLD Water Filter Plant located at Ramnagra and lauded its management, cleanliness and technical efficiency. He described the facility as “remarkable” and said it has the potential to become a model for Madhya Pradesh. During inspection, Devda said that Jabalpur’s water supply system and sewerage treatment plant management have reached a level worth showcasing.

He informed officials that he would discuss the “Jabalpur Model” with Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav, indicating that similar systems could be adopted in other cities of the state. Mayor Jagat Bahadur Singh briefed the Deputy CM on the technical functioning of the Ramnagra plant. He said the plant is equipped with five pumps of 500 kilowatt capacity each. Of these, three pumps operate continuously to ensure uninterrupted water supply, while two pumps are kept in reserve for emergency situations.

Water from the Ramnagra plant is supplied to 28 high capacity overhead tanks, from where drinking water reaches residents of 36 wards in the city. The Deputy CM inspected the in-house laboratory, where samples of raw water, treated water from the plant and water collected from different parts of the city are regularly tested. Officials apprised Devda of chemical and physical testing process.

He also reviewed recent reports. The results showed that the water supplied meets all prescribed quality standards. MLA Ashok Rohani, Collector Raghavendra Singh, Municipal Commissioner Ramprakash Ahirwar, Superintendent of Police Sampat Upadhyay, Assistant Engineer Sandeep Jaiswal and other senior officials were also present.
