ACTING on the instructions of the
Raipur District Collector, Municipal
Corporation Commissioner and Senior
Superintendent of Police, teams of
Raipur Municipal Corporation Zones
1 and 5, along with the regional office
of the Chhattisgarh State Environment
Protection Board, carried out surprise
inspections of kite shops in different
parts of city and seized prohibited
Chinese Manjha.
In Zone 1, a joint inspection was
conducted in the Bal Gangadhar Tilak
Ward No. 18 area near Prayas Hostel
in Gudhiyari. During the inspection of
two kite shops, prohibited Chinese kite
string was found. The banned material was immediately seized in the presence of police personnel.
A fine of Rs.
10,000 was imposed on the shop owners, with Rs. 5,000 collected from each,
and they were issued a stern warning
to strictly comply with regulations in
the future. The inspection was carried
out in the presence of the ward councillor and the zone health officer.
In Zone 5, surprise inspections were
carried out at kite shops set up along
the road in front of Ghasidas Plaza in
the Amapara area. During the inspection, prohibited Chinese kite string
was recovered and seized immediately under the guidance of officials from
the regional office of the Chhattisgarh
State Environment Protection Board.
The inspection was conducted in the
presence of the Zone 5 sub-engineer.
Along with the seizure, action was taken to immediately remove the kite
shops from the roadside to ensure
smooth traffic movement in the area.
Municipal Corporation officials warned
all kite shop owners on the spot that
possession or sale of Chinese kite string
is strictly prohibited and that any violation in the future would invite strict
action as per rules. The authorities reiterated that such inspections would
continue to ensure public safety, environmental protection and compliance
with existing regulations.
