BHAVYASHRI Mahalle, has seen selected in the Maharashtra team for the upcoming National Cross Country Championship. Bhavyashri’s sixth place finish in the girls Under-20 6km race of the State Cross Country Championship held recently at Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar earned her a spot in Maharashtra team. Bhavyashri, a player of the Navmaharashtra Krida Mandal and a student of Priyadarshini Engineering College, completed the six-kilometre race in 24 minutes 39.24 seconds. The first six runners in this group have been selected for the national event to be held in Ranchi on January 24. Bhavyashri earlier represented Maharashtra in the National Cross Country Championship held in Gaya in 2024. She trains under the guidance of Naresh Shelke.
 
Gaurav, Bhavyashri, Mitali in finals
 
Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University athletes Gaurav Khodatkar, Bhavyashri Mahalle and Mitali Bhoyar, reached finals in the men’s and women’s 1500 meters races respectively in the All India Inter-University Athletics Championship being hosted by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore at Mudbidri (Mangalore). Gaurav finished second in the preliminary round with a time of 3 minutes 55.31 seconds and reached the final round. Another runner from Nagpur University, Bhavesh Khandar, finished fourth in the preliminary round with a time of 3 minutes 57.01 seconds. However, he could not reach the final round. In the women’s 1500 meters race, Bhavyashri finished fifth in the preliminary round with a time of 4 minutes 39.18 seconds, her best time of this season, and reached the final.
