A good article, rather hopes expressed, by Mr Vijay Phanshikar in CityLine’s Footloose on January 15, about Nagpur’s problems that are expected to be looked into by newly-elected representatives. Like the Loosefooter, there are many senior citizens who are living in Nagpur since birth. It may be more than six-seven decades. They have seen a tiny beautiful Nagpur city with beautiful gardens like Maharajbag, Ambazari, Telangkhedi, Gandhibag, Seminary hills and also the beautiful lakes like Futala, Ambazari, Gandhisagar, Gorewada etc.
People used to go for picnics with friends and relatives here.
The roads were small but well-mainted tar roads, sky was open (now-covered by flyovers and Metro-trains).
No doubt the city has developed but these beautiful spots are surely not in good conditions, roads are ridden with potholes, footpaths broken, roadside dug up for laying different pipes and cable lines. Whether it is civic body or elected representatives, the people expect that everything should be in order.
Sometimes in the past, the city was to be made a ‘Smart City’. Less said the better about this.
The Hitavada, like a caretaker on behalf public of Nagpur, highlights issues, problems, shabby works done, bad road condition, neglected gardens etc very regularly. These are attended to many times. But it should be done automatically
Now, all those who are contesting irrespective of their political parties promised to do their best for overall development of the city. And we hope that they really do it as promised after getting elected.
Let us make our Nagpur the best place to live in.
