THE Super 8 team, led by Siddharth Barjatya, emerged champion beating JIS Smash Squad, led by Shrey Kala, 21-12, 21-18 in the final of Shri Digamber Jain Khandelwal Panchayat Badminton Tournament held at the YMCA Robertson Hall the other day. The two-day tournament witnessed enthusiastic participation from eight teams comprising 64 players, with events held across men’s, women’s, and children’s categories. Convenor of the tournament Sanjay Santosh Patni stated that the tournament, restarted after the COVID-19 pandemic, aimed to promote sportsmanship within the community and encourage participation of youth in sports. Senior player Rajiv Kala and Praveen Bohra were honoured with lifetime achievement awards for their contribution in the field of sports. Those who worked hard for the success of tournament were Sanjay Patni, Rajiv Kala, Manoj Kala, Babli Bohra, Shreyansh Barjatya, Gaurav Godha and Mayank Raoka.
