High-powered committee of Coal India visits NCL’s Bina, Amlohri, Nigahi projects

THE high-powered committee
of Coal India, constituted to monitor the effective implementation of wages and social security for contract workers, visited
NCL’s Bina, Amlohri, and Nigahi
projects. The committee members present during the visit
included Keshav Rao, Director

Manish Kumar, Director (Human
Resources) - NCL, Anjar Alam,
Director (Finance), ECL, C S
Tiwari, Director (Technical), CCL,
Gautam Banerjee, Executive
Director (HR), CIL, Jayabrata
Majumdar, General Manager
(CMC), CIL, Ranjan Behera
(BMS), Shivkant Pandey (HMS),
Naresh Mandal (AITUC), and
Manas Chatterjee (CITU).
Also present on this occasion
were GM (Amlohri Area) Alok
Kumar, GM (Bina Area) R K Singh,
GM (Nigahi Area). Rajendra
Verma, GM (HR) Sameer Barla,
DGM (HR) Rajesh Chaudhary, and
senior officials from the Amlohri,
Bina, and Nigahi projects.
The high-powered committee
visited the Bina and Amlohri projects on Tuesday and the Nigahi
project on Wednesday.
During the
visit, they inspected the mines
and reviewed the facilities available to contract workers, such as
camps, rest shelters, and canteens.The members reviewed in
detail the wage payments, biometric attendance system, health
benefits, and other benefits related to contract workers.
The committee also checked
various statutory documents at
the contract worker camps and
appreciated NCL’s work culture
and the facilities provided to contract workers.
The committee members
interacted with contract workers engaged in overburden
removal at the projects and
obtained feedback on their working conditions, safety, and welfare issues. On this occasion,
workers who had performed
exceptionally well at the Bina
project were also honored.
The committee members also
visited the dragline operations at
Nigahi and the Bareja Eco-Park
developed under the continuous mining initiative.
