Chaos was reported in the area after severed head of a cow calf was found beneath the flyover infront of Nagpal Garden, Madan Mahal on Thursday morning. The incident sparked immediate communal tension and led to a large-scale protest by local activists. According to the sources, local residents first spotted the remains on the roadside and alerted members of various Hindu organisations. As the news spread, a significant crowd gathered at the site, prompting a rapid response from Madan Mahal and Gorakhpur police departments to maintain order. Vishal Namdev, District Joint Secretary, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), characterized the event as a calculated attempt to incite unrest.

He noted that the incident occurred on the second anniversary of the Lord Ram Pran Pratishtha, suggesting a deliberate intent to disrupt the city’s atmosphere. VHP member Vikas Khare issued a formal warning to the administration, stating that if the perpetrators are not apprehended within 24 hours, the organization will launch a widespread and “aggressive” protest. In response to the formal complaint filed by the activists, Gorakhpur police have officially registered a FIR under Section 325 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police have increased patrolling in the area and are currently reviewing local surveillance footage to identify the individuals responsible for the act. Meanwhile, the district administration has appealed for calm while the investigation proceeds.
