On the occasion of Republic Day on January 26, the Madhya Pradesh state government has approved the premature release of 11 inmates currently serving life sentences at the Central Jail, Bhopal. The decision follows the state’s special remission policy, which considers the nature of the crime, the duration of the sentence served, and the overall behavioral conduct of the prisoners during their incarceration.
 
Profiles of the released inmates According to jail authorities, the group includes individuals convicted of serious offenses such as murder, rioting, and tampering with evidence. The list of inmates set for release includes Rafiq Khan (Raisen), Mangu alias Mangilal Silawat (Sehore), Kishan Korku (Harda), Brijesh Adivasi (Raisen), and Narayan (Raisen). Other beneficiaries of the policy are Dhruv and Dinesh Kumar Marle from Betul, Kailash Khati from Sehore, Ramphal from Raisen, Guna Dhar Guldar from Betul, and Jitendra alias Jitu Pawar from Bhopal.
 
These individuals have spent a significant number of years in prison and were selected after a rigorous screening process. Central Jail Superintendent Rakesh Bhangre stated that the conduct of all 11 inmates has been consistently satisfactory. "We have initiated the final legal formalities to ensure a smooth transition.
 
The respective local police stations in their home districts have been notified as per standard protocol," Bhangre added.The documentation for all 11 prisoners has been completed. They will be officially released on the morning of January 26, following the Republic Day flag-hoisting ceremony.
