In a key Cabinet meeting held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav, the Madhya Pradesh Government approved several major decisions aimed at boosting agriculture, wildlife conservation and land management. The Cabinet gave its nod to remove 395.939 hectares of Pachmarhi Nagar’s Nazul land from Pachmarhi Sanctuary, declaring it as revenue Nazul land. This reclassification of land, previously under restricted sanctuary control, is expected to streamline administrative processes and enable better utilisation of the area for developmental purposes.
The Cabinet also approved
Rs 215.47 crore for two projects in Narmadapuram district.
The first project is Bagra Branch Canal under the right bank canal of the Tawa project, with a sanctioned budget of Rs 86.76 crore, which will provide irrigation to 4,200 hectares across 33 villages in Babai and Sohagpur tehsils.
The second project, the Pipariya Branch Canal under the Tawa project’s right bank canal, received Rs 128.71 crore in approval and will benefit 6,000 hectares in 30 villages of Sohagpur tehsil. These initiatives are expected to significantly improve water availability for farmers, enhancing agricultural productivity in the region.
The Cabinet sanctioned Rs 390 crore for development of buffer zones across nine tiger reserves in Madhya Pradesh for the next five years, from 2026-27 to 2030-31. Under this scheme, activities will include chain-link fencing in sensitive areas, wildlife protection, pasture development, water resource improvement, fire safety measures, wildlife health monitoring, and skill development programs. The plan aims to strengthen conservation efforts while supporting local communities living around tiger reserves.
