Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav has said that electricity is as vital to a State’s progress as life is to the human body. Just as life is essential for the functioning of the body, adequate power availability is crucial for the development and growth of any state.
He said that agreements worth Rs 60,000 crore for generating 4,000 megawatts of electricity would form a strong foundation for the long-term development of Madhya Pradesh. These projects will significantly enhance overall power availability in the state and enable 100 percent fulfilment of electricity demand. The new power plants, to be set up under the Design, Build, Finance, Own and Operate (DBFOO) model, are expected to generate around 8,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities.
In the presence of the Chief Minister, Power Supply Agreements for 4,000 MW were signed on Tuesday at Samatva Bhavan, the Chief Minister’s residence. Additional Chief Secretary Neeraj Mandloi briefed on the agreements. The agreements were exchanged between MP Power Management Company Managing Director Vishesh Garhpale and representatives of Torrent Power Limited, Adani
Power Limited, and Hindustan Thermal Projects Limited. The new power plants will be established in Anuppur district.
Dr Yadav said that due to industry-friendly policies, strong infrastructure, and good governance, Madhya Pradesh is emerging as a preferred destination for investors from India and abroad.
He added that the state is well-suited for power generation due to better coordination of land, water, environment, coal, and rail connectivity.
He also highlighted achievements in renewable energy and said that the PM MITRA Park will open new avenues of development and employment.
Under the competitive bidding process, capacities of 1,600 MW were allotted to Torrent Power, 800 MW each to Adani Power and Hindustan Thermal Projects, with an additional 800 MW under the green shoe option. Power supply from these plants is expected to begin by 2030.
