Madhya Pradesh has taken a new step to simplify judicial procedures by launching a mobile court for resolving municipal matters. The initiative has been started from Jabalpur and will deal with cases related to municipal tax, encroachments, revenue and other civic disputes. On the occasion of Republic Day, Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court, Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva, flagged off the Mobile Court Bus. The vehicle has been named “Justice at Doorstep”. Several High Court judges, Municipal Commissioner Ram Prakash Ahirwar, Mayor Jagat Bahadur and other senior officials were present at the event. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Justice Sachdeva said the mobile court is not just a vehicle but a moving courtroom.

Its main objective is to provide quick and easy justice in matters related to the Jabalpur Municipal Corporation. He said citizens will now be able to get relief in civic cases without the need to visit offices repeatedly. Municipal Commissioner Ram Prakash Ahirwar said the mobile court will ensure faster hearings of municipal cases. Many civic matters require immediate action by a judicial magistrate, which will now be possible at the ward level. He added that this is the first mobile court initiative of its kind in Madhya Pradesh. Mayor Jagat Bahadur termed the project as an innovative step by the JMC. He said people will no longer have to run from one office to another for municipal issues. Magistrates will hear cases on the spot in the wards visited by the mobile court. He added that more such vehicles will be introduced in the coming days and the initiative is expected to deliver positive results.
