CITY cagers Siya Deodhar and Rajvi Maladhari have been selected to represent Maharashtra in the 3x3 senior Nationals Basketball Championship which will begin at New Delhi from Thursday.
Both the Nagpur players Siya and Rajvi have been named in the four-member Maharashtra women team for the national championship organised by the Basketball Federation of India (BFI).
The three-day tournament will conclude on January 31. A total of 29 men and 23 women’s teams are participating in the championship where a match is played for just 10 minutes.
While SIya is a member of the Shivaji Nagar Gymkhana (SNG), Rajvi practices at the Dharampeth Krida Mandal (DKM) courts in Shankar Nagar.
The other two members of the Maharashtra team include Mumbai’s Arpita Mayekar and Vaishali Singh. The four-member Maharashtra men team include Himanshu Gaikwad, Parth Kale, Shreyash Malvankar and Gokul Nair. Both the state 3x3 teams were selected by the Maharashtra State Basketball Association (MSBA).
President of Nagpur District Basketball Association (NDBA) and MLC Sandip Joshi, Secretary Bhavesh Kuchanwar and all NDBA members congratulated both Siya and Rajvi for their selection in the Maharashtra team.
