Former President of ICAI CA Jaydeep Shah passes away

Known for his transformative leadership and dedication to professional excellence, past President of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) CA Jaydeep Shah, passed away on Friday due to a heart attack at the age of 69. CA Jaydeep Shah, the first Chartered Accountant from the city to occupy the prestigious position of President of the national-level body - ICAI, was a towering personality in the profession and a source of constant inspiration for generations of Chartered Accountants. A distinguished professional from Nagpur, he was Partner at Shah Chari & Co., Chartered Accountants, and made exemplary contributions at the national and international levels. During his tenure as President and Vice-President of ICAI, and as Central Council Member for nine years, he played a pivotal role in strengthening professional education and infrastructure.
 
His leadership led to several landmark initiatives including establishment of IT training labs across the country, introduction of residential training programmes, enhanced accessibility of study material for students, improved examination reforms, and several student-friendly initiatives. CA Jaydeep Shah also served on various prestigious committees and boards of the Government of India, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Reserve Bank of India, SEBI, IRDA, C&AG, and international bodies such as IFAC, CAPA, and SAFA, thereby significantly contributing to policy formulation and governance reforms. At the regional and branch level, he was closely associated with ICAI Nagpur Branch and Western India Regional Council, serving in multiple leadership roles and always guiding the fraternity with his vision and wisdom. Several Past Presidents of ICAI including CA Ashok Chandak, CA R Bupathi (Chennai), CA Sunil Goyal (Jaipur), CA Ved Jain (Delhi), CA Manoj Fadnis (Indore), CA Devraj Reddy (Hyderabad), CA Debashish Mitra (Guwahati), CA Amarjit Chopra (Delhi), CA Kamlesh Vikamsey and CA Nilesh Vikamsey (Mumbai), CA Subodh Agrawal (Kolkata), CA Sunil Talati (Ahmedabad), CA G Ramaswamy (Coimbatore), and several other senior members of the fraternity have expressed their deep condolences on this irreparable loss.
 
He is survived by wife Harsha Shah and son Harshdeep Shah, along with other relatives, friends, and well-wishers who deeply mourn this loss. In a noble humanitarian gesture, the family has donated his eyes, reflecting his lifelong values of service and compassion. The Managing Committee and members of ICAI Nagpur Branch extend heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and pray to the Almighty to grant eternal peace to the departed soul and strength to the family to bear this irreparable loss. The funeral procession of CA Jaydeep Shah will commence from his residence at Plot No. 214, Ram Nagar, on January 31 at 10 am, and will proceed to Ambazari ghat.
